Wilma's Orphans Inc
YA Canine Orphanage on Long Island Y

Wilma's Orphans Inc is a small not-for-profit [501c3] dog [only] rescue located on Long Island in New York that works very hard finding permanent homes for dogs who need a second, third or even fourth chance at happiness.  It is a one-woman operation, and I am that woman. My name is Wilma, and I've been interested in dogs all my life. After retiring from the business world it seemed only natural to follow my dream and my passion both of which involved working with dogs, and so Wilma's Orphans Inc came into being. The main objective is to rescue homeless and unwanted dogs with adoption to loving forever families the end result. Every dog is seen by a veterinarian regardless of where it came from. They are given their rabies and distemper vaccinations, wormed and complete blood panels taken. All dogs are spayed or neutered before adoption. If there is a medical or physical problem it is taken care of to the best of my ability. Each dog's temperament and personality is well-known so prospective adopters are fully informed before adopting. There are a variety of breeds, mixes, sizes, shapes, sexes, ages and colors. Practically something for everyone. The adoption process consists of an application, home visit, contract, and donation. Please look at all the sweet faces imploring you to take them home. You just might find the "love of your life" at Wilma's Orphans. Give us a call, 516-485-5875, and come see.

Let me introduce you to the latest furbabies that need help...

This is Team Wilma's Orphans running an adoptathon at a local Petco.  We had an exciting time meeting new people and introducing Tootsie, Hermione, CoCo and Crash to lots of other dogs who were shopping with their "parents".

This is what rescue is all about...Hermione came to Wilma's Orphans exactly 2 years ago.  She arrived with her friend Atticus who was adopted after being here a very short time.  And so Hermione has been waiting all this time for it to be her turn to find her new home.  Thanx to Janice and Doug Hermione's wait is up.  She went to her new home in upstate New York and is enjoying the walks in the country along with all the new sites and smells.  We wish all three of them a long happy, healthy life together.

My Grand daughter Sophia Rose and Hermione the day before she went to her new home.

I am so happy to announce that Crash, the 11/12 year old Chihuahua, who came into rescue over 3 years ago after being hit by a car has finally found his forever home with 2 wonderful sisters who are giving him all the love and attention he deserves.
